Dunlop has announced a new line of effects pedals that will allow you to recreate Jimi Hendrix’ legendary guitar tone. Other than the existing Hendrix pedals such as the Fuzz Faces, these new effects from the Authentic Hendrix series come in a pedalboard-friendly enclosure and they have a number of modern features that greatly improve their usability.
Like all of the pedals in this range, the Fuzz Face Distortion features stylish artwork by rock artist Gered Mankowitz. The pedal was developed to recreate the sound of Jimi’s Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face from the late ’60s. There are rotary controls for Volume and Fuzz and the pedal is true-bypass. There’s also a status LED and the unit can be powered with a 9-volt power supply.
This pedal provides you with the sound that is all over the iconic Band Of Gypsys album. It’s based on the vintage Shin-ei pedal that Hendrix used in late ’69 and 1970. Expect classic chorusy, phasey and Leslie-type sounds – all in a practical enclosure with a status LED and a socket for a 9-volt power supply. The Uni-Vibe Chorus/Vibrato is true-bypass and there are rotary controls for Speed, Level and Depth plus a Vibe button.
Jimi’s aggressive fuzz sound from the Band Of Gypsys period is captured in this user-friendly pedal. Unique for this type of fuzz is the Tone control that sits in between the Output and Fuzz knobs.
The Octavio Fuzz has only two controls: Level and Fuzz. It will give you the classic octave up/fuzz effect that Jimi was known for and like the other effects in the Authentic Hendrix range, it comes in a Phase 90-sized housing. The Octavio Fuzz is also true bypass and it has a status LED and a jack socket for a 9-volt power supply.
This wah-pedal is half the size of an original Cry Baby and therefore it will easily fit on most pedalboards. The JH Cry Baby Mini is based on Jimi’s original ’60s wah by the Thomas Organ Company (manufactured by JEN in Italy). It delivers the same dynamic sweep as this classic wah, so you can recreate Jimi’s sound on songs like Voodoo Child (Slight Return) and Up From The Sky.
