This is a rare Gibson “black beauty 82″ which was built in limited numbers in Kalamazoo 1982 and 1983. So this is a vintage Les Paul! of course with very resonant mahogany body and neck and real Ebony fingerboard.
In short: a vintage 1983 Gibson Les Paul “Black Beauty 82” electric guitar and a real cool player! . This particular limited edition example, serial number 80323559 (with sub series serial 0081) was recently purchased …and it’s a killer guitar! The top was refinished at one point, but that is well done and almost not visible! The Black Beauty 82 was produced during Tim Shaw’s pickup golden era, and this guitar features 2 incredible sounding Shaw PAF-inspired humbucking pickups. In addition to sounding incredible, this rare model is effectively a thoughtful hybrid between both the Les Paul Custom and Les Paul Standard appointments. Manufactured alongside the fantastic Heritage series, this is certainly an obscure and interesting vintage Les Paul model.
This beautiful 1983 Gibson Black Beauty 82 (made in 83) features Tim Shaw humbuckers, Les Paul Standard trapezoid inlays, Les Paul Custom style binding on the top only, gold hardware, a high gloss ebony finish, Schaller-made “flipper” tuning machines.
This guitar looks and plays like a new instrument. It exhibits hardly any fret wear nor associated playing wear. The neck profile is a very comfortable 1960-style shape with larger fret stock. The playability is perfect. Ideal for the Gibson Les Paul aficionado or the smart collector, this is a rare model.
